During ARTrails I had the luxury of enough space to have these pieces spread out on my work table for visitors to see the process.
I made little signs for each step;
STEP 1
After drawing my design to scale, I choose colors from my sample tiles:
STEP 2
All glass is cut, using my drawing as a pattern:
STEP 3
After careful cleaning, I assemble the glass and place on a kiln shelf
(people were amazed that nothing is glued!):
STEP 4
The fully-fused tray, ready to be slumped:
STEP 5
The flat tray, balanced on a ceramic mold (this is a dish from the kitchen store):
STEP 6
The slumped dish, still in the mold to show how it fits after a second firing:

Firstly, let me say that your work is incredible! While I never copy another's work, I must say that your work inspires my imagination. I have only been doing this for about a year, so I am still learning a lot. You mentioned that your mold was from the kitchen store...is it glazed, and if so, how do you prepare it? Thanks!
Hi and thanks. Inspiration is good, copying is not; glad to hear you don't. You'd be surprised at how often I'm asked to share nitty gritty details; it's what we all bring to our work that makes it our own! The mold used for this set of dishes is glazed but I just applied several coats of kiln wash over the glaze and let dry.
Yea, thanks for opening up a whole new world of shapes for me :0)
